Are you committed to the demonstration of the Gospel? Then speak the truth about sin and salvation in Jesus Christ! Proclamation *is* demonstration. It requires you to take action. Demonstrate the powerful truth of the Gospel by speaking up at every opportunity about the radical thing God has done to open for us the door to his kingdom.
Are you a proclamation person? Are you committed to “keep the main thing the main thing”? Then love your neighbor the way you love yourself. Demonstration *is* proclamation. When we walk in God’s ways, live in holiness, and do justice, we testify to the truth of the Gospel as clearly as any verbal witness. And when our public and private lives are not lived in God’s way before an unbelieving world, our actions truly speak more loudly than our words.
Don’t waste precious time and energy trying to figure out how “words” and “deeds” relate. The Gospel is one. It is not divided into proclamation and demonstration. “Proclamation” and “demonstration” never should have been separated in the first place. Each one is just part of the whole. When we get back to an integrated Gospel, we will be more authentic disciples of Jesus — and we will bear abundant fruit as Jesus produces more disciples through us.
