The ground on which you stood suddenly gave way. Now you don’t know how you are going to keep a roof over your head and food on the table. What if something really terrible happens, and life completely falls apart?
We will never have assurance about our circumstances. If we expect to always live comfortably, we are taking too much for granted. What we do have is this: Almighty God has adopted us as sons and daughters. He loves us. He knows the troubles we are having. He is able to get us through them. He is faithful to provide when we seek his kingdom. He already knows how he can use even the most awful circumstances to reveal his glory, draw us closer to himself, and advance his kingdom through us.
What you must not do is allow fear to make decisions for you. Difficult times are always ahead, but “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.” (Psalm 46:1-2 NLT)
The earthquakes will come. The mountains will crumble into the sea. Take refuge in the Lord. In his strength, seek his kingdom first. Trust him to provide everything you truly need.
