When we value things more than we value Almighty God and the advance of his kingdom, we are guilty of idolatry. The people of God had filled Jerusalem with injustice and defiled themselves by worshiping the unworthy — and Ezekiel pronounced God’s judgment on them. Yet God promised to bring them back to himself. They would truly be his people — and he would truly be their God — because they would walk in his ways.
“I, the Sovereign LORD, will gather you back from the nations where you are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel once again. When the people return to their homeland, they will remove every trace of their detestable idol worship. And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their hearts of stone and give them tender hearts instead, so they will obey my laws and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.” (Ezekiel 11:17-20 NLT)
Let us resolve to chase injustice from our streets and live in a way that gives God the honor and respect he deserves.
