Religion: Dead or perverted?

“Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.” (James 1:27 NLT’96)

How much harder is it to stand on one leg than two? You hear the first “leg” of this verse quoted more than the second. No doubt our apathy about justice is a major reason God has turned his back on us, but God’s dikaiosune is both justice and righteousness. The progressive’s impotence lies in listening to and obeying the confused and broken world, rather than God.

Without justice, righteousness is dead; without righteousness, justice is perverted.
