Need assurance of salvation? Love others!

Hebrews shouts to believers: “You can trust God to keep his promise of salvation!” Because God has given us both his promise and his oath, we can be perfectly sure he will never change his mind. Because it is impossible for God to lie, those who are discouraged can take new courage. Hold on to his promise with the confidence that provides a strong and trustworthy anchor for your soul. [Hebrews 6:13-20]

And how do you take hold of that assurance? “Keep right on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and patience.” (Hebrews 6:11-12 NLT’96)

Confident Christians love their neighbors as themselves. Their confidence is reinforced by the fact they are loving their neighbors as themselves, “as long as life lasts.”
