When society is stuck in adolescence, live holy lives

prudeThis morning’s quiet time in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 reminds me:

In a society suffering from an adolescent obsession with sex, living in holiness and honoring God with our bodies is a great challenge. People around us do not know God and his ways, but we know God has called us to live holy, not impure, lives. Because God’s will is for you to be holy, you must stay away from all sexual sin. Controlling your own body is essential if you are to live the holy life to which God has called you. The warning you need to hear is that refusing to live this way is not disobeying some human teaching, but rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. If we indulge in sexual sin and cheat others, we will face God’s vengeance.

Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just paraphrasing the passage.
