What would the sacred but imaginary “right to privacy” imply for gun ownership?
If the right to privacy guarantees a woman has the right to kill the child in her womb, if it guarantees a man’s right to have intimate physical relations with another man — without regard for the impact on the community or other individuals — on what basis does the society deny an individual the right to own a gun of any kind, especially when the Constitution also says his right to bear arms “shall not be infringed”?
If someone wanted to control guns, he might have to give up Roe v Wade and Lawrence v Texas.
