“Fireproof,” the latest film from the makers of the 2006 surprise hit “Facing the Giants,” generated the second-highest average revenue in theaters this past weekend, beaten only by “Eagle Eye,” a thriller that showed in four times as many theaters and cost 160 times as much to make.
On opening weekend, for every $1 spent making Fireproof, the movie brought in $13; for every $1 spent making Eagle Eye, the movie brought in 36.5¢.
Maybe Hollywood execs need a little help with their math skills.
