An American aid worker has been kidnapped in Afghanistan. Please activate your prayer networks on behalf of Cyd Mizell.
Update 2/27/08: Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Cyd Mizell and Muhammad Hadi may have been killed by their kidnappers. Some bloggers and journalists are reporting this situation as if their deaths have been confirmed. They have not been confirmed. Watch arldf.net for news.
Update: 7/13/08: It has been 170 days since the kidnapping. From what I read, there appears to be no physical evidence to suggest that Ms. Mizell and Mr. Hadi are alive or dead. With no way of knowing which is the case, some of us have been praying for them in ways that would be fitting whatever the situation is. We pray for things that would be true if they were in the Lord’s presence and that we would want to be true if they are still in captivity: “Lord, thank you that they dwell today in the glory of your presence. Let them praise you in all your majesty. Let them know you as the protector of the weak and the liberator of the captive. Fill them with the peace and comfort that comes only by knowing you.” That lets us continue praying without knowing what their situation actually is. Family and friends ask concerned people everywhere to not give up hope.
